A Quick Fall Bookshelf Refresh

Quick Changes to Decorate Your Bookshelf for Fall

Hi friends! Today I am sharing a simple trick to update your bookshelf for Fall. I am using a neutral Fall color pallet of mostly black and white, purple and gold. I’ll share what you can do to give your shelves a quick refresh for the Fall season without going to much trouble.

Here’s the Tip

I love arranging my books in different ways! There are several popular ways to arrange books on a shelf in an eye pleasing way:

  1. Rainbow order: Arrange your books by color in the order of Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Indigo, Violet
  2. Color cluster: Cluster your books in groups of color (all the blues together, all the greens together, etc.)
  3. Specific color: Select specific books to feature and place the colors you don’t want to see in a more discrete place. For example, if turquoise is the main color in your room, choose to cluster books in the blue spectrum and hide the other colors!
  4. Backwards: For this room, I chose to turn all my books around backwards! This is actually the first time I’ve ever done this, and it seems like it will be kind of annoying to find particular books, so it may not last long. I wanted to create a more truly neutral pallet, so turning the books around was a quick fix!

Backwards Books

For this room, I quickly turned my books around to create a neutral look! It only took a few minutes and made a huge difference. Next, I rounded up other little pieces from around my house that fit with the colors I had chosen to feature: black, white, purple, gold. The only books I allowed to remain in the correct direction were my collection of “Little Golden Books” because they highlighted my gold color!

Today I’ve been joined by some of my blogging friends who are also sharing their Fall decor ideas through their Fall mantel decor or Fall Vignette. Just click on the links below the images to see more…

Thanks for sharing your tips with us on the blog hop. Bookshelves can be tricky to style but you did a great job of breaking it down.
