I’m sharing a tour of our DIY “Up” themed treehouse! This fabulous outdoor space has become a favorite chill zone for our entire family. Be sure to scroll all the way to the end to see over 20 other outdoor spaces from some amazing bloggers!

Our Up Themed Treehouse

The day is finally here, I’m excited to share a full tour of our new Up themed treehouse! Since building this treehouse last month, it has already been enjoyed for hours by every single person in our family (including me). We have five kids, ages 1 to 12, so it was important for me to create a space that was fun for everyone, but safe for my one year old and appealing enough for my tweens to chill without electronics.

The theme for this treehouse was obviously inspired by our love for the colorful house from Disney Pixar’s movie “Up.” I love the phrase “adventure is out there” and thought it would be really cool to translate that into a backyard area for the kids that inspires imagination and creative play. After all, adventure is really in the backyard!

Finishing Touches

Some of the things from the Up movie house that I wanted to include were the color scheme and mailbox with hand-prints on it. Here are a few of the items we used to create the iconic look:

  • White picket fence
  • Garden hose
  • Weathervane
  • Balloons
  • Mailbox
  • House number “18” (not pictured because I just added them!)

Supplies

Here are the items I used and where to find them. Most of these things were found on Amazon, with the large slides coming from Facebook Marketplace.

  • Rope Ladder
  • White Picket Fence
  • Weathervane
  • Weatherproof Balloons
  • Outdoor Cushions
  • Table
  • Stools
  • Hammock Chair
  • Hanging Chair
  • Mailbox
  • Swing

The Ultimate Chill Space

This treehouse has become the ultimate space to go and chill out. I’m holding pretty firm on the rule that there will be no electronics allowed at all. So far, the kids have sat in the hammock to read books and draw pictures. They have also played board games, spent the night! I love sitting back with a cold beverage and just staring up into the branches of the tree. It’s so relaxing!

Behind the Scenes

I put together this little video, highlighting the building process! It was so fun including the kids in the work. For another great take on this project, check out this amazing article written in Metro Parent Magazine!
