I’m so excited to be participating in a fun Red, White and Blue themed blog hop today! I’m sharing one of my favorite Summer party recipes, along with almost 100 other great ideas!

Red White and Blue Ice Cream Cake (like DQ ice cream cake) This ice cream cake is a spin off of my number one, all-time most popular post: Copycat DQ Ice Cream Cake I wanted to create a red, white and blue version of it – but my dilemma was, not wanting to lose what makes the DQ cake so great… the layer of gooey chocolaty cookie goodness! I thought about how easy it would be to get vanilla flavored cookies and dye them with food coloring or use blue moon ice cream with vanilla. But, I wanted to use chocolate – because what would an ice cream cake be without chocolate? ice cream cake

Red White & Blue Ice Cream Cake
Ingredients
  • Vanilla Ice Cream
  • Strawberry Ice Cream
  • Chocolate Syrup
  • Blue food coloring
  • Red white and blue sprinkles
  • Whip cream
  • 1 Package chocolate cookies like Oreo or similar brand
  • Spring form pan
  • Butter
Instructions
  1. Butter the bottom and sides of a spring form pan - for easy removal
  2. Spread one layer of vanilla ice cream across the bottom of pan and then up all the sides to the top
  3. Freeze for a few minutes to harden between layers
  4. Spread a layer of strawberry ice cream on top of vanilla
  5. Freeze for a few minutes to harden between layers
  6. Crush chocolate cookies in plastic bag, then coat them in chocolate syrup and spread across top of strawberry ice cream
  7. Freeze for a few minutes to harden between layers
  8. Mix blue food coloring with vanilla ice cream to create desired color of blue and spread across top of chocolate mix
  9. Freeze for a few minutes to harden between layers
  10. Mix equal parts vanilla ice cream and whip topping then spread on top
  11. Refreeze and then remove a few minutes before service so it has softened enough to cut into
  12. Top with sprinkles and enjoy!
