Styling a Corner Cabinet for Summer

Today I’m joining the Seasonal Simplicity home tour to share an assortment of beautifully styled mantels and vignettes! Be sure to scroll all the way down for the rest of the bloggers that are participating today!

Styling a Corner Vignette

You may be asking, what is a vignette? I’m going to be completely honest, I had to google it not long ago. I kept seeing the term pop up on pinterest, and thought, I don’t even know how to pronounce that (answer: “vin-yet”)!

I love how Beth, from Home Stories A to Z puts it:

The word “vignette” can mean a short literary sketch, or a technique you apply to photos. But in decorating, a vignette is a small grouping of objects that creates a pleasing focal point and “tells a story”. I love vignettes because they are an affordable way to bring charm, character, and life to any space.

What kind of story would you like to tell with your vignette? What objects around your house make you smile and hold meaning? Sometimes, we tuck things away in storage or keep them hidden on a cluttered shelf. Consider finding things you love and arranging them in a non-cluttered way that looks pleasing to the eye. I’m going to share how I style my corner cabinet to create a cozy vignette that is pleasing to the eye.

Corner Cabinet in a Small Dining Room

I have a rather small dining room in our house. A couple years ago, we finally let go of our bulky, formal dining room set and opted for a simple white table from IKEA and metal chairs. The slimmer lines of the table smaller chairs fit nicely in our dining room and made room for a small, corner cabinet! I found this particular piece on Facbeook Marketplace and dressed it up in white chalk paint.

I love decorating this little spot. Because the room is small, I have opted for light colors and a rather minimalist decorating standard. This has become the frequent gathering spot for family meals by night and craft projects by day. Because of that, less clutter makes life easier.

Because of the small space and the fresh, clean look I am going for, I try not to cram a lot into the story. For this look, I wanted lots of white space with pops of pink and leafy greens. Most of my items are found at IKEA and the Target dollar spot.

  • Pink vase – IKEA
  • Fern – IKEA
  • Curtains – Target
  • Table – IKEA
  • Chairs – Amazon
  • Cacti – Michael’s

Creating Ambiance

We love eating family meals by candlelight and using twinkly lights when the nights are cold. To warm up this second-hand refurbishment, I added little battery operated lights! These are some of my favorite lights from Amazon. Find them HERE. They can be mounted or moved around and are activated by a remote!

I am particular about using warm LED lights when possible.
– Find these warm LED puck lights HERE
– I also love these warm LED string lights that are also remote controlled. Find them HERE

Your summer cabinet is so beautiful! It looks even better with the LED lights turned on at night. The lights make it appear romantic and add that cozy and warm vibe.
