There is So Much More

MORE

In this life I would stand through my joy and my pain.
Knowing there’s a greater day. There’s a hope that never fades.

Where the wars and violence cease. All creation lives in peace.
Let the songs of heaven rise to You alone.

No weeping. No hurt or pain. No suffering. You hold me now, You hold me now. No darkness. No sick or lame. No hiding. You hold me now, You hold me now -Hillsong “You Hold Me Now”

Dear friends,
Oh! But there is so much more than this!
My heart is heavy. I have so many things to be thankful for and so many reasons to be joyful. Yet my mind is full with thoughts for people I love that are hurting. My mind wanders and I get lost. Day after day I’ve prayed and thought, thought and prayed. One truth keeps speaking to my heart: “I am so glad there is more than this.”

More than my deepest hurt, moments of fear, or times of grief.

More than my happiest memories and the purest tears of joy.

More than moments like these.
When I look into those eyes
and my heart melts.

IMG_9756It’s in those moments that I start to think:
“this is what life is about”
“It can’t get any better than this!”

Because, if this is it,
we
should
be
frantic.

Frantic to grab hold of a fleeting instant.
Determined to cling to the precious time we have.
Anxious to cherish each moment.
Fearful of the ones we’ll miss.

If this is it, then to miss a moment like this would be a tragedy.

Yet in our darkest times of grief
and in the most precious moments of joy,
truth echos: there is more than this.

There is life after life.

Death is not the end.
Suffering is not in vain.
Life is never short.
There is lots of grace to go around.
This stuff of earth is temporary.
This isn’t “IT”

edIMG_88401.jpg

Because my hope is in things to come,
in Someone who holds it all in the palm of His hand.
Because I know there is a greater story unfolding
than the one we can see with our eyes.

There is comfort for the grieving,
there is grace for the prodigal,
there is peace for the anxious heart.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
-2 Corinthians 4:16-18

I’m crying as I read this. My heart goes out to you- I feel your hurt. I lost my mother 18 months ago- not a day goes by that I don’t break down still. I have been told that the grief is normal, that the pain shows how much love was there & how special the relationship was. I wish there was something I could say that would take away the pain. Just know you are not alone. Hugs.

Hi Sarah. Yes, this life can have pain, fear, suffering and grief at times. But, like you said there are also times of great joy and happiness. I also believe there is so much more than this life. Your post is beautiful and very nicely written. I pray and believe you will find comfort and peace thru this difficult time because of His comfort and peace for each of us.

    Blessings,
    Heather
